Another great feature all sites should have is a "Hit counter".
You have probably seen dozens of these little creatures on websites you´ve visited. They range from the rather unappealing FrontPage options below...
...to the more muted and elegant varieties spotted on sites such as www.chalksoft.com:
NB This is another FP2000 feature which requires FrontPage Extensions on the host Web server.
However, all is not lost. A significant number of sites which have all the cutting edge features were
not created using FrontPage, and yet they have hit counters, forms etc etc. The secret lies in something called "CGI" - a programming language running on every web server,
and which is there for you to use, whether or not you´re creating a site using FrontPage.
There are literally thousands of good, robust and (most importantly) really `cutting edge´ CGI scrips available on the net from places such as:
www.worldwidemart.com www.zdnet.com
They fall outside the scope of this introduction to FrontPage, however. Please feel free to explore these two links on your own.
