Perhaps the greatest value of tables is their ability to be position other page elements accurately on a page. It works like this:

Since (1) you can set a cell or table to be invisible, and since (2) you can place other elements (like text, graphics, video clips etc) within a cell, you can effectively  determine the absolute positioning of these elements.

If you right click in a cell, and select Table Properties (or Cell Properties), you see this...

Changing the border size to zero makes either the entire table (or specific cell) invisible. All you need to do then is to adjust the size of the cells, and the graphic or text they contain can be positioned quite accurately on your page.

Try it.
