mspub pattern fill1You can really liven up your publication by adding splashes of colour, or a patterned background.  These are called "Gradient" or "Pattern" fills.  Here's what you do:

First, you need to click the "Object Colour" tool on the top toolbar. This will drop down to reveal this dialogue box.

Now click the "Patterns & Shading" button.

Alternatively, you can work through the menus, by selecting the Format/Fill Patters and Shading menu option

Now select a base colour and a second colour.  As you do so, the style examples just above will reflect your choices, as will the Sample window below.

Experiment with Tints/Shades, Patterns and Gradients till you find the look you are after.

Finally, click OK, and view your creation!
