Page numbers have to be inserted in the background of your publication.

This means that you need to make sure that there is never anything placed  in the foreground over the place where you are going to position your page number, or it will be obscured.

Step one:

In background view, create a small text box where you would like your page numbers always to appear.

Step two:

Make sure the text box is selected, and then choose Insert, Page numbers from the menu bar.  A hash sign # will appear as a symbol that a page number has been inserted.

Itīs as simple as that!

You can insert the date in the same way:

When you have gone to Insert, Date from the menu bar, you can choose Update Automatically if you want the date to reflect the current date each time you open this application.

Insert dateIf you want the date to stay the same, choose the Insert as Plain Text option.
