Background:

A useful feature (especially when formatting folded brochures) is that which allows text to flow from one text box to another.

In Publisher, you can nominate which text box should take the overflow when your first text box gets 'full'. This is the method used by magazine and newspaper editors to flow text from one column to another on a different page - the ubiqitous 'Contd on page XX' message.

Step by step:

First, create two text boxes on a Publisher page (or better still, create a box on two different pages of the same document. Then start entering text in text box 1, as follows.  As soon as text box 1 is 'full', the ellipses button ('Connect frame') appears, as you can see.

You are offered two levels of on-line help to walk you through the process.  Feel free to explore both avenues, but for the time being, simply click the Continue button.

You will be returned to the Publisher page, and your cursor will have changed into a cup which looks like it is pouring liquid.  This is Publisher's subtle way of asking you into which text box would you like the text 'overflow' to be 'poured' Click in the second text box.  Your extra text will now automatically flow into this box.

This second text box also grows a button - the 'Go to previous frame' button, which appears at the top of the frame..  In our current example, this button seems a little superflous, since both frames are proximate - but this second frame could well be on page 23 or page 197 - many pages away.  In the latter case, the button is a help because it allows you to jump back without any tedious scrolling.
