Once you have chosen your blank presentation, you are asked to select from a number of layouts. These are generic layouts, and you may choose any of them with confidence.  If you wish to have total control over your presentation, select the last slide (blank).

For the sake of this demonstration, however, you should select the FIRST layout, which is as good any for your title slide. (This is one place that even hardened presenters use a template.)

Having accepted the title screen layout, PowerPoint then prompts you to type in your Title and subtitle:
