If you DOUBLE-CLICK on a drive icon, you get to see what is inside the drive. 

You see (surprise, surprise) a number of folders, and inside the folders, you´ll find possibly more folders, and some files.

Notice, the special "My Documents" folder is here, as is the "Recycle" bin, but more on these later...
