Win9x allows you to schedule tasks to start by themselves. This can be extremely useful.  In the accompanying graphic shows a task which will automatically defragment the hard drive of the computer at a given time every day.

To add a new task, double-click on the "Add Schedule" icon, and follow the simple instructions - or "Wizard".

NB Defragmenting your hard drive regularly (like once per week) is extremely good practice, since files easily become fragmented on a disk drive, and this can cause sluggish performance, and even data loss if left for long periods.
